5 Tips for Marketing Your Next Event
When your company decides it wants to do something extra such as a grand opening event, community event, or fun get together—there are A LOT of things to consider as you get started! This ranges from picking a date for the event, deciding on a place to host your event, and what we’re here to talk about today: marketing your event well.
Tip #1: Solidify the Name
First things first, it’s important to have a catchy event name or title. This is especially true if the event will be an annual thing. You want the name to be something that you love and get excited about. This is a very important step one as it helps create intrigue and draw people in. If you’re stuck on what to call your event, it might be a good time to reel in the marketing experts.
Tip #2: Brand the Event
Your company’s unique branding can be reenvisioned and adapted to fit the theme or context of your upcoming event. There’s power in recognition of the event (especially if it’s annual). When your branding is done right, the recall of images and event branding will be clearer in the minds of the audience and help create strong brand recognition. Additionally, when the event branding is easier on the eyes and expertly designed, people are more likely to share the event content onto their social media pages (oh yeah!). This organic consequence of a well-branded event is positive and can help your event gain some much needed traction.
Check out this really fun example of a brand new annual event that our team branded: The Annual Jam & Toss Cornhole Tournament hosted by Securewire Technologies in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Tip #3: Time to Market
It’s time to get into the marketing side of things. The fun can really start here as you begin to envision your event, the theme, and the audience you’re trying to reach. It’s nice to have access to a marketing team (hint hint—that could be us) to get access to their creative ideas and input for the upcoming event.
At this step, it’s important to:
- Create a Facebook Event
- Setup a landing page on your website
- Solidify activities, food, and entertainment for the event—and start posting teaser content on social media to build the hype
- Market the event to your email contacts
- Create potential hashtag for the event

Tip #4: Let’s Really Advertise
